Over the next decade, CPRIT’s goal is to invest $3 billion dollars in innovative projects that will advance cancer research and prevention in Texas, as well as create more jobs and drive additional revenue into the state economy.

On November 2, 2011 CPRIT awarded more than $100 million in cancer prevention,research, and commercialization grants.

First round of funding over $61 million
Chairman James Mansour announces the approval of the first slate of research awards at the January 20 Oversight Committee Meeting. Executive Director Bill Gimson, Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Al Gilman, CPRIT Grantee Dr. Dan Bernadinis, and State Representative Patrick Rose also participated in the press conference.
Dr. Larry Kwak – TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People
One of CPRIT’s first grantees, and a distinguished faculty member at M.D. Anderson, Dr. Larry Kwak is recognized for the potential impact of his research for a lymphoma vaccine.
